3 WAYS TO WEAR IT!

I was blessed to experience 62-degree weather in NY the other day & there must be an appreciation post as a result. After a not-too-bad (but if you’re from the south pretty bad) winter, I’m more than excited to pull the sunglasses and crop tops from my storage bins to embrace sun dress season.

For this post, I’m showing you how I like to style one pair of shorts 3 ways. With transitional weather in mind, I wanted to insure my looks took into consideration that we’re not quite into the swing of June yet. This pair, which I purchased from LoveCulture about a year ago is my favorite pair of shorts. They fit at the waist and at the hips perfectly (a major challenge for me, usually I can never score two in one, so shout out to this pair!). The silhouette is trending (see Bermuda shorts, biker shorts) and the color olive green always works as an amazing transitional color.

For this first look, I paired the shorts with a white floral top to add femininity to the militant color that is olive green. Topped the look off with a pair of Steve Madden strappy sandals, a golden bag from Frock Candy, and a golden Madewell hoop I borrowed from Taylor at the time (don’t worry, I own my own now!) I think It’s important to pay attention to the two prints happening here, florals & check print. Sometimes print blocking can seem intimidating and hard to do, but it’s not complicated at all. (I’ll have another post detailing how to do that, so stay tuned!)

For the second look, It’s more of a relaxed glamour vibe. I paired the shorts with a plaid button down (from GAP) and a pair of black Vince Camuto heels. The way the flannel falls makes it seem like a different silhouette, but it’s just a styled button down! I paired it with a yellow handbag for an extra pop of color. The yellow & green look great paired together, major varsity vibes here.

For the third look, I added a little drama to the look by pairing the shorts with a light weight rust colored duster coat. I paired the duster, (Forever 21) with a white draw string peplum button down (from H&M) and a pair of snake booties (from Miss Lola), which I’m starting to realize is a pretty good transitional print. Topped off with sunnies & gold accessories.

This shoot took place in NOLA prior to me relocating to NYC. Once I arrived & was settled, I realized it was too cold to post my content, so here we are! Thanks for reading, if you want to see more, follow me on Instagram @whitneysylvain, and subscribe to my site!
