AT HOME WITH HANIFA.



Whew chile! When I opened this Hanifa package my jaw dropped to the floor. Hanifa is a black female-owned fashion brand which I've admired for a while. I'd been eyeing this piece and when the time was right, I ordered this ostentatious floor length cardigan. It’s iconic just like the brand who designed it and the woman wearing it. 😉


It can easily be dressed up, I styled it with these rainbow lace up heels from Jessica Simpson heels, and a rhinestone belt. But these days I’m taking the lounge wear approach and wearing it around the house. So yes I’m excited! Get you some Hanifa especially this knit cardigan because baby, it’s cold outside. Que the Frank Loesser version.





This is not a food blog, but my favorite thing to do during the holidays specifically is to bake. I make brilliant cinnamon rolls, fried oreos, banana bread, and chocolate chip cookies. Yep...that’s it. My menu doesn't need to be much longer because my recipes are so iconic that fingers will be licked and taste buds will be satisfied with just the four of these. Read on for my full Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe and tips on what makes mine so divine.


The ingredients are below:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs


Now the steps:


Heat oven to 375 degrees


Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, beating them as you add them. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Then drop them on ungreased baking sheets.


Bake for about 10 minutes or until your intuition tells you to take them out. Let them cool of 2 minutes; then remove to wire racks to cool completely.


Some of my baking tips that will take this recipe from a 10 to a 13:


I use egg beaters instead of real eggs, the cookies are much smoother with egg beaters

I also allow the butter to sit out so it is room temperature

I bake with love. Anything made with love simply turns out tastier.
